Monrovia, Liberia — September 4, 2026:

Accelerate 360, a program designed to support, empower, and promote the growth of local businesses through relevant assistance and opportunities, has held an engagement with Liberian businesses at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The well-attended program, held under the theme “Dialogue With the Minister,” brought together entrepreneurs and representatives of various local businesses. The event provided a platform for businesses to showcase their products, share their experiences, and highlight success stories, while also engaging government officials on opportunities and challenges confronting the private sector.

 

Speaking during the ceremony, Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Tarnue N. Jeke, reaffirmed the Government of Liberia’s commitment to supporting local businesses and creating an enabling environment for their growth.

Deputy Minister Jeke said government’s support is intended, among other things, to strengthen the capacity of Liberian businesses and enable Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to compete effectively with businesses across the sub-region. Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Magdalene Ellen Dagoseh, Deputy Minister Jeke encouraged local businesses to take full advantage of available opportunities and programs designed to strengthen their operations.

 

He also urged entrepreneurs to deepen their partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, noting that sustained collaboration between government and the private sector is essential to achieving inclusive economic growth. Also speaking at the event, Deputy Minister for Commerce and Trade Services, Hon.  Wilmot A. Reeves, emphasized the importance of strengthening Liberia’s private sector as a key driver of national economic development. Deputy Minister Reeves noted that increased investment in the private sector has the potential to stimulate economic activity, create employment opportunities, expand businesses, and contribute significantly to the growth of the Liberian economy. He encouraged local businesses to explore opportunities beyond Liberia’s domestic market and take advantage of regional and continental trade initiatives and programs that can help them expand their operations and reach new markets.

 

Deputy Minister Reeves specifically highlighted the importance of the ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which provide opportunities for Liberian businesses to access broader regional and continental markets.
