The Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry, Republic of Liberia, Hon. Stephen Marka Yekeson, Jr., and the Deputy Minister for Commerce and Trade, Hon. Wilmot A. Reeves have held a high-level meeting with a delegation from the Republic of Sierra Leone to discuss preparations for the upcoming West African Integration and Investment Summit (WALLS) 2026.
The meeting brought together Ing. Fuad Yusuf Bangura, Director of Climate Change and Strategic Minerals Lead (WALLS) in the Office of the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone; H.E. Mohamed K. Konneh, Resident Representative of ECOWAS; and Ms. Lusine Kallon, Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Liberia. The engagement focused on the upcoming WALLS 2026, which is scheduled to take place in Freetown, Sierra Leone, from November 17–18, 2026.
Discussions centered on strengthening regional integration, promoting investment opportunities, enhancing economic cooperation, and ensuring effective participation and coordination among relevant institutions in the lead-up to the summit. The meeting also provided an opportunity for the delegation to formally engage the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Liberia’s participation in the summit and to explore areas of mutual interest that could contribute to deeper economic and investment cooperation between Liberia, Sierra Leone, and the broader ECOWAS region.
The Acting Minister and team welcomed the engagement and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to constructive regional cooperation, particularly initiatives that promote trade, investment, private-sector development, and sustainable economic growth across West Africa. The meeting forms part of ongoing consultations with key stakeholders ahead of WALLS 2026, with the shared objective of advancing regional economic integration and creating greater opportunities for investment and cross-border cooperation.
