PPCC Engages County Authorities to boost Liberia’s e-GP System Acceptability
The Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) has successfully concluded a week-long awareness tour across Nimba, Bong, and Lofa Counties, aimed at deepening public understanding of Liberia’s Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system. The initiative forms part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to onboard additional 50 procuring entities to the platform by the end of 2025.
To date, six institutions have already been fully onboarded and are conducting procurement transactions through the e-GP system. These entities have collectively executed procurement contracts valued at more than US$30 million, demonstrating the system’s growing impact and its potential to transform public procurement in Liberia.
The awareness tour sought not only to introduce county stakeholders to the features and benefits of the e-GP platform but also to prepare county authorities and institutions for upcoming full-scale trainings. The planned training engagements will support the counties enrollment into the system, strengthen compliance, and enhance transparency as Liberia transitions steadily toward digital procurement.
The initiative is fully funded by the World Bank.
As part of the tour, the PPCC awareness team met with county administrations in Bong, Nimba, and Lofa Counties, and assured them that PPCC will continue to champion efficient, transparent, and technology-driven procurement processes across Liberia.
In a rather receptive mood, the superintendents and administrators of the three counties underscored the importance of equipping staff with the skills required to operate the e-GP system effectively.
They expressed strong support for the initiative and emphasized the need for continuous sensitization as government services increasingly shift to digital platforms.
The PPCC team assured the leaderships of the counties of the Commission’s commitment to maintaining regular engagement and providing hands-on training to county procurement actors and local vendors who are the key participants essential to the successful implementation of e-procurement nationwide. The three counties visited are part of the 50 additional institutions designated for onboarding to the e-GP System before the close of 2025.
The awareness tour marks a major milestone in preparing counties for the full rollout of the e-GP system, which was officially launched in February 2025 by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
